Hi John,
auto-rp will work with pim sparse-mode if you use the ip pim autorp listener
command on your routers.
This will "tell" the router to treat the two auto-rp groups
224.0.1.39<http://224.0.1.39>&
224.0.1.40 <http://224.0.1.40> as dense-mode groups so they will be "seen"
by every other router.
That way, the RPs can announce themselves to 224.0.1.39
<http://224.0.1.39>(which your mapping agent will be listening to) and
the mapping agent will
then send the details of the RP to the rest of the routers via the
224.0.1.40 <http://224.0.1.40> address.
The command is hidden in the IOS (12.2(15)T anyway) but is on the Doc CD.
