Yes, that is what James and Paul suggested as the only other option.

Redistribute from another routing protocol?

Thanks, James....now you really have me
thinking....hmmmmm.....how would
it be possible to add an interface (or loopback) into ospf,
outside of
ospf? I was thinking about using a route-map, but this still
must be
redistributed. And, the distribution-list will not work in this
case.
I also tried a summary address. After going through the doc CD
on
redistribution methods, I am out of ideas. Are we sure that this
is
        not broken?

Think "out of the box" or in this situation, "out of OSPF".

I am working with an NMC lab that requires to add a loopback
into
ospf.....the lab states, "advertise the loopback address in OSPF
from R3
without adding it in any ara and without redistribution
connected
prefixes. It should appears in the routing tables of the other
routers". If we don't use the area command, and can't use the
redistributed connected....then what other options exist? I
can't seem
to locate any other options on this. Is this an error (or
        mis-interpretation)? Anyone have a hint?
