I think a solution to what you're talking about is to use HSRP, VRRP, or
even GLBP. Using one of these protocols, you will have one virtual ip
address which would be your default gateway...and behind that you can
have multiple physical ip's which would be the device or devices
actually doing the forwarding. With HSRP and VRRP you can gain
redundancy by creating multiple groups and configure RouterA for Group 1
with a higher priority and RouterB for Group 2 with a higher priority.

about the implmention of DHCP with two default
