If you are not using a layer-3 switch, remember that if you just want to
bridge 2 router interfaces together at layer-2, use the "bridge crb"
global command rather than the "bridge irb" global command. I got it to
work in my lab.

I do not see the usefulness of the bridge-group command under a L2 port,
the
port is alreading bridging all protocols by virtual of its layer 2
status.
You will only need the command on a L3 capable ports/interfaces.
If you want to change the default bridging behaviour of the port, use
the
'no switchport' command and it will now be capable of either bridging or
routing or both depending on your configurations, then the
'bridge-group'
command will be effective.
The 'bridge-group' command will not show up as a configurable option
under
the switchport interface until the 'no switchport' command is enabled.
