Stefan,
When you enable ipv6 on an interface it will use it's own link local address
unless you specify another one, and because this is an Ethernet connection,
icmp neighbour discovery can work ( instead of arp.
Rip will work over these addresses.

Lee.

Subject: IPV6 quesiont
Hi,
e0- R1 -e1- e1- R2-e0
1. What does the ipv6 enable command?
2. ipv6 addresses are configured on e0 interfaces of R1 and R2. ipv6 rip 1
enable is configured on all ethernet interfaces of R1 and R2. On e1 int of
R1 and R2 is configured ipv6 enable command. e0 interfaces are pingable from
each other. How was it possible to configure RIPv6 between routers without
having ipv6 addresses on e1 interfaces???
thanks.
