Not sure what you are trying but for what it's worth - there
are two aspects to DTE/DCE when it comes to frame relay. On
the frame switch you need to configure it with frame-relay
interface-type dce. This is for switching purposes. Then
whichever device is "cabled" as DCE gets the clock rate
command. A show cont serial 0/0 for example will show how
the interface is cabled (DCE or DTE). Either the router or
the frame switch can be cabled as DTE or DCE. Many people
cable the frame switch so all the interfaces are dce and
hence it gets the clockrate command. Others cable the
routers as DCE and hence each router gets the clockrate
command. Regardless of all that you still need the
frame-relay interface type dce command on the frame switch
(and of course the frame switching command).
