IPEXPERT has a pretty balanced book, equal in all respects. I had the
version 6 labs and they were very good. Scott Morris wrote them so they are
pretty devious.

IE is good as well, especially for the services portion which to me they
seem strong on. I personally like the volume II advanced labs since they
focused on the new features and IPV6 more.

NMC is very great too, redistribution is strong here and you'll gain an
in-depth view of how things work, at least I did. I felt this book really
prepared me for the actual lab experience and had some really hard scenarios
that made me think above and beyond, I actually spent DAYS working on one
particular lab (number 24), As painful as it was, after I was finished I had
a very indepth understanding of PPOE/PPOA and many other things :) Another
thing I like about this book, it's constantly updated and the support forum
is outstanding. You really cant go wrong here.

I think these three books are excellent and I use each of them equally. I
personally started with the IPEXPERT books since they had some "mini-labs"
in them that helped warm me up for the multi-protocol ones. I then worked
into the NMC and IE books. IE has another Volume II advanced book out that's
not too bad, I wouldnt start there though..do the others first.

I also had the hellocomputers book, I would shy away from that one if you
come across it...it's not very good in my opionion, even if you could
understand the poor writing quality and logic errors.

If you pick up doyle's books and the practical studies there are labs in
those as well. Those are not too bad either, in fact they are very good,
these books should be a part of your library anyway so it wouldnt hurt to
pick them up.

HTH,

Josh
