A very good question, indeed.
As I recall, this is one of those exceptions to the rule - there isn't an
implicit deny or an implicit permit with igmp profiles.
Now, take this with a large grain of salt. My ability to correctly
recollect these sort of technical details is highly untrustworthy.
I would check the GS archives - I recall there having been a discussion on
this sometime in the last 6 months.

3550....if I say

config-igmp-profile# deny
config-igmp-profile# range 224.2.2.0 224.3.3.0
int f0/5
ip igmp filter 1
Does that mean that only this range is denied or is there an implicit
deny for everything else??
