That is correct. Cisco changed the recertification rules that you had
to wait at least 6 months before taking the written exam again for it to
count for recertification.

mandatory
6-month window. So that way when recertifying, you coulnd't take the

on your last day of the 2-year mark, then again the next day and get
4-years
at once.

To me, it sounds like passing the written extends your ccie for 2 from the date you take the written, not from date your ccie expires.
