It's still the same, Cisco departments get a big discount off list, but
have to buy them with cold hard cash from budget.

        Do you think that Cisco gives routers away for free to the
different business groups within Cisco? I worked for Cisco in the
mid-90's and we always had to buy our equipment. Most of the time we
would buy equipment that was RMA'ed back at a discount but we never got
equipment for free. Of course Cisco may have changed over the years and
give routers away like candy today ;-)

        Most people think that if you work for a company you'll get
their products/services very cheap or even for free. Over the years
doing consulting I've seen some of the worst desktops at IBM and some of
the worst health care benefits offered to employees of a major health
insurance company.

I thought that Cisco makes routers, how can it cost them. Is 2 Mil a big
money for cisco. I dont think so.
