Points well taken but the R/S track still requires WAN knowledge from an
edge perspective. I think FR core knowledge should be in the SP track but
FR edge topics should always be a part of R/S. Guess that's why we don't
have to configure the FR switch any more....
Personally I'm glad these topics are going away. I don't support them much
in real-life (a little DLSW here and there) and I consider them a waste of
time studying them at this point. Time that I could spend getting to know
the other areas better.

The lab should be much easier after the changes.
ATM and ISDN are the hardest things I have seen my customers attempt to
understand. Actually, I think 50% of them still do not understand them.
It is sad to see them go, but technology waits for no one.
I guess in the overall scheme of things, Service Provider is the logical
place for those technologies.
I wonder how long before they move Frame Relay over as well and Routing and
Switching becomes just Ethernet?

Im actually quite dissapointed that they have removed ISDN. ISDN is defo a
technology that is used in customer environments. I can understand ATM/ISIS
being removed as it really is more of a SP thing. DLSW being removed is
quite a surprise - this must mean that no one uses DLSW any more - *cough*
poor old banks.

My opinion is, the only good time to take the lab is when you know the
material cold and have proved it to yourself with practice labs. Cisco keeps
changing the lab all the time so you're never really gonna get to totally
zero in it's subject matter for long anyway. You might as well dig in now,
no matter what's on the exam and start your quest...putting it off will only
delay your pain.
