some routing protocols use the link's bandwidth when calculating the
metric.. as a result, changing the bandwidth to 10000 on a fastethernet
interface will affect the metric for those protocols..
to change the speed, use the "speed 10" under the fastethernet interface to
force the speed to 10mbps.. be advised, however, that the other side of the
link will need to agree, or be set to auto.. otherwise the link will not
come up..
