?? If you specify -not advertise-, there is no summary advertised ! The Type3 LSA is supressed and the traffic is blackholed on the ABR (summary to null interface) No ?

Subject: Area Range and LSAs

What LSA(s) actually gets generated when you use the AREA RANGE command
in OSPF? I know at least a single Type 3 LSA is generated for the
summary, but what happens when you tell it to not-advertise the
individual routes along with the summary route? From what I have read
and searched in the archives, it looks like the Type 3 LSA gets
suppressed. If that is the case, then how does the summary route get
into the area?

I am just trying to figure out how OSPF is processing the routes and
what you get when it is done.

Any help is very appreciated!
