RE: ip pim nbma-mode, frame-relay map without broadcast

Ip pim nbma mode sends packets as data-link unicasts, not layer 3
unicasts, meaning that the multicast address is forwarded only over the
DLCI it is needed on, not all DLCI's on the interface. To forward the
multicast packet on one rather than all DLCIs you still need the
broadcast keyword.

Deb ip mpacket should show the difference in behavior.

Subject: ip pim nbma-mode, frame-relay map without broadcast statement

Hi there,

I have frame-relay setup between two routers.
I used on both routers the "frame-relay map" statement.

When I configure "ip pim sparse-mode" & frame-relay map BROADCAST
statement I'll see the other side with "show ip pim neighbor"

when I configure "ip pim sparse-mode"& frame-relay map WITHOUT broadcast
statement, I do NOT see the other side with "show ip pim neighbor"

I always though that in this situation the command "ip pim nbma-mode"
would help me to unicast to the other side.
I configured this command on both sides, shut-no shut both interfaces,
but no pim neighbors... :(

What am I missing, and how can I make this config to work.

regards!
