Mike,
I have to agree with you 100%.
What makes Scott Morris, Andrew Bruce Caslow, Bob Sinclair, Marvin Greenlee,
the Brian's, Tom Lijnse and many others here on GS so exceptional isn't the
great depth of their knowledge in and of itself as considerable as it may be
but rather their generosity in being willing to share that knowledge with
the rest of us.
When you think of the world's 100 or 1000 greatest people, how many of them
were experts in Networking?
I doubt that I would make it onto anyone's list of greatest people for
anything but if I had a choice, I would much rather be considered great for
being a great human being than being a great networking expert. I don't
even aspire to be a great networker but every day I aspire to be a great
person (as well as a ccie).
And, as extensive and considerable is the knowledge of those mentioned
above, there isn't one person whose response to a question I haven't
questioned or challenged at some time. Most of the time, it was because I
didn't fully understand their answer or I wanted to explore a related issue
but every now and then it turned out that the initial response was
incorrect.
But, not once have any of those guru's belittled me for my follow up
questions even when I didn't fully think through my question before asking
it.
I respect the accomplishment of each person whose dedication and ability
have enabled them to earn a ccie but I truly admire those people who
selflessly contribute to the betterment of others.
Getting back to John's original question, I don't know if answering his
question would be an NDA violation or not. But, either way, it's clear John
had a concern about ISDN.
I wrote John and told not to be concerned about what type of switch is used
because that's not the real issue and that won't matter as long as he knows
how to deal with configuring ISDN regardless of the switch type. The real
issue is whether or not spid's need to be configured and as long as John and
everyone else knows when and how to configure spids, then the NDA hasn't
been violated and the real concern is addressed.

John started it ? I read the post to and to me it just seemed that John was
asking a question. And disagreed with Scott about wether the answer would
break NDA. Which is fine no worries if Scott doesnt want to answer the
question then he doesnt have to. The two things I did not like about your
post was, one you made it sound like Scott Morris is the man if he tells you
something wether or not you agree with it he is right so you do not even
have the authority to question it. And two John really did not attack you
and you made a coment like I dont really care if you got 100% on your ISDN I
already have my number so take that. Group study is all about people who are
studying for the CCIE who have questions and people who answer these
questions to help them along. To me it seemed that you came off as you where
bragging beacuse you have your CCIE and throwing it in John's face beacuse
he doesnt have it yet. And that kind of attitude is not what Group Study is
about. The most ta!
lented Network Engineers I have ever known do not have a CCIE. Also I have
worked with CCIE's who I think are not talented at all. If you have your
CCIE Ricky more power to you im glad for you but that is not something that
makes you better than John or anyone else. All of us in this industry are
constantly learning and there will always be someone who knows something
more than you. The point is we need to help each out not slam someone for
trying to learn.

My sincere apologies to what happened yesterday. I was having a bad day.
But if you read the posts you should know John started it. My apologies
again.
