Tim seems not to work on 12.2/3 IOS I started with it on 12.0 backbone
routers and it took the command but not say on core 12.2x routers such
as R1,R2 etc etc this is message pop up by ios

Rack1R1(config-if)#ip unnumbered loopback 0
Point-to-point (non-multi-access) interfaces only

How about using ip unnumbered on the f/r interface? If the reference
interface is pingable, I think this should work.

If you are required to ping your own frame relay interface on all core
routers , but you are explicitly denied the ability of using any static
layer 3 to layer 2 methods how could you do this ? When using only a
physical frame relay interface so point to point subinterfaces are not
permitted ??
