Read the DocCD on what passive-interface actually does. You're thinking
to stops an interface from participating in the routing protocol.
Actually, (in RIP's case), it stops routing updates from being sent out
that interface. The 'network' command determines if the interface
participates or not. If that interface's address is covered by a
'network' command, you'll see the route, no matter if you have
'passive-interface' on it or not. The 'passive-interface' command on
Fa0/0 would prevent any other RIP router attached to Fa0/0's network
from seeing ANY RIP routes. Like Kian said, to stop advertising the
route out the S0/0 port, you'll need a distribute-list on that interface
to filter the route out of the update.
