RE: ccnp renewal vs. ccie written

All,

I passed my ccnp in mid 2003 and it was due to be renewed in 2005 (I
think).

With the new recert rules that came into place in October last year in
mind, I passed my ccie written in November, this renewed my ccna, ccda &
ccnp.

HOWEVER, I did have to send a mail in to cisco to ensure that it was
done, they were most helpful.

Hej,

I can only confirm this story. I certified for CCNP in December 2001,
which means it expired in December 2004. I initially throught that the
written CCIE test, I obtained in September 2003 would extend it, after
digging a bit on the Cisco website I found out that it didn't
(http://ciscocert.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ciscocert.cfg/php/enduser/entry.p
hp
and then search for "Recertify CCNP and CCDP Certifications"). I have
just checked my status in the Cisco certification tracker, and my CCNA
and CCNP are defo expired. Not that I worry about it too much, now that
I passed the lab.

So, my thoughts are, that what is written on the Cisco website, is
correct. But, that doesn't mean other experiences are incorrect... it's
just confusing me a bit ;-) So, for those wondering what to do, I would
assume that if you passed your CCNP before 1/10/2004, you cannot use the
CCIE written test to extend it.

Hope this helps
