Hi Jens,

AFAIK, there is no conflict at all. I used to lab it up once long time ago.

Dialer persistent will force a dialer interface to be connected at all
times, even in the absence of interesting traffic.

With dialer persistent applied together with backup interface command, the
dialer interface will be down unless the primary link (FR in your case) goes
down.

When the FR link goes down, dialer interface will go up. At this point,
dialer persistent will kick in and cause dialing. Without dialer persistent
command, router will wait for interesting traffic before start dialing.

When the FR link connection restores and backup delay timer expires, dialer
interface will be placed in backup state and go down.

HTH,
David

Subject: issues using dialer persistent and backup interface

Are there any issues with using dialer persistent command on an dialer
profile that also is configured to be the backup link for an frame-relay
that is connfigured with backup interface command.

Just seems conflicting to me since dialer persitent is suppose to have the
link up and backup interface are suppose to keep the link down until primary
link goes down.
