I believe the command "snmp-server host 10.10.10.10 CISCO bgp" has smoething
to do with sending notification but nothing to do with enabling trap itself,
meaning you have to enable trap for BGP. SO you will need "snmp-server
enable traps" or at least " snmp-server enable traps bgp"

Subject: SNMP - enable traps

HI all,

I thought I knew this, but I've come across two examples which
contradict each other. If you need to limit traps to a host you use
the snmp-server host command like so:

snmp-server host 10.10.10.10 CISCO bgp

My understanding was that you also needed to enable these traps with the
snmp-server enable traps bgp command. I've recently seen an example
where this was missing. Would any traps be sent?

I also understood that the host command superceded the enable command.
So if you enable all traps, but then included the snmp-server host
command as above, that host would only receive those traps.

A more general question: Is there a good freeware Windows SNMP
management application to test this?

Thanks
Roy
