Hi all,
This is a general question, about taking liberties or not following lab exam
directions to the letter.
I am currently working through IEWB-RS. All of the labs start out with "Do
not add or change any IP address from the initial config unless otherwise
specified". In lab 4 they want a virtual link through a NSSA (q5.10). This
is resolved by making a GRE tunnel. The GRE Tunnel ints are assigned an
arbitrary IP address. OSPF Backbone area is then run across the tunnel, to
eliminate the need for the virtual link.
Is it OK to add an IP in this manner, for this purpose? I tried to do it
with IP Unnumbered, but on the ABR which was originally not adjacent to 0,
there is no way to then put the gre tunnel int into area 0 (it goes into the
same area that the borrowed IP is from).
Similarly, we are extending area 0 here, which is differing from the
directions. Is that OK?
Thanks and best of luck with your studies.
