Thanks Dave,
It started working after turning off domain lookup. Even populating the host
name did not work.
Peace of mind , I can move on with my testing setup.

Or alternatively John, leave domain-lookup on and put in ip host R1
172.16.101.1
Cheers, Dave.

Subject: RSH and RCMD
I am trying the rsh for using it in TCL ping test. Somehow it is not
working. Here is what I am trying wit the two routers initially, the
loopbacks are reachable from either routers
R1(3640 with 12.3 ) ------> R2 ( 2621 with 12.3 )
R1 config has
interface lo 0
ip address 172.16.101.1 255.255.255.255
!
ip rcmd rsh-enable
ip rcmd source-interface loopback 0
R2 has
interface lo 0
ip address 172.16.105.1 255.255.255.255
!
ip rcmd rsh-enable
ip rcmd remote-host R1 172.16.101.1 R1 enable
!
When I try from R1 with command
rsh 172.16.105.1 show ip int brief
I get error %rcp protocol error.
Any clue on whats going wrong ?
