IE lab 16 - snmp v3 MISTAKES ???

Hi guys,

There seems to be a couple of disconnects between the task requirements and
the provided solution in this lab. I'm hoping someone can help me

sort out these apparent discrepancies.

In 10.4, it says the mgmt station will be expecting traps to be sent using
this username = IELABUSER and password = CISCO.

But, the solution has this command configured:

snmp-server host x.x.x.x version v3 priv IELABUSER

Shouldn't CISCO have been used instead of IELABUSER? (The Doc-CD shows that
the community-string should follow "priv".)

Also, there's no mention of which traps should be sent but the solution shows
this command configured:

snmp-server enable traps tty

Why was tty specified?

Lastly, task 10.1 specifies that username authentication is required but it
doesn't say whether or not encryption is also required. Should we assume

that encryption isn't required? Would having encryption make the config wrong
and cost points?

TIA, Tim
