Hi ,
Do u mean to say u have spokes on the WAN connected via Serials to a HUB
router ..which are in Area 1
As well as spokes connected to LAN of the same HUB router which are in Area
0 ?
In this case the HUB Router is a ABR , and u can add area-range command on
hub router , and it should work fine.
One more thing I have notice when doing summarization on the ASBR , the
summary routes are not advertised if we don't have a child route ( of
course this is not related to your problem)

where are you doing the summarization ? That is, which router do you
configure the area range command on ? Just make sure it is an ABR and not a
backbone router. The easiest way to check this is to issue the 4show ip
ospf4 command on the router where you do the suumarization...
