While a failover PIX is in standby, it uses a failover IP address, not the
LAN IP address. The default gateway address will go active on the standby
PIX when it goes active. That is the nature of FAILOVER. The cisco
documentation is very clear on this.

Subject: PIX failover's lan address
To make two pix firewalls become a failover system, I know
the active side keep a lan address, and the standby side
also keep a lan address. Which one should be use in normal
time. Meanwhile, If I put a computer into the lan, what
should be set as the computer's default gateway.?
Thanks alot
