Hello,
Ports 7/1 and 7/2 on a Cat6509 switch are configured for etherchannel. It is connected to a linux server with two interfaces bonded together. Etherchannel is up, and frame distribution method is set to ip destination.
set port channel all distribution ip destination
set port channel 7/1-2 323
My question is in the output below you can see unequal amount of traffic being transmitted from ports on the etherchannel. The linux server's bonded interface has one ip address, and I thought using the ip destination criteria would result in equal amount of traffic being sent through each port in the etherchannel. Am I incorrect in assuming that there will be equal utilization of the ports in etherchannel???
sh channel traffic
ChanId Port Rx-Ucst Tx-Ucst Rx-Mcst Tx-Mcst Rx-Bcst Tx-Bcst
------ ----- ------- ------- ------- ------- ------- -------
833 7/1 44.44% 65.65% 0.00% 41.41% 18.18% 80.80%
833 7/2 55.56% 34.35% 0.00% 58.59% 81.82% 19.20%
The linux server shows that it is receving most traffic on one interface and the other one receives significantly less traffic. The linux server is transmitting equal amount of traffic on each interface in the bond.
Thanks,
Partha
