Re: got spanked on second attempt

Chuck,

I absolutely agree. I have my R&S and Service Provider IEs already, so
I am focusing in the security topics from the online CD as a
pre-preparation for the lab. I have my own pod of routers, switches,
PIX, VPN Concentrator and I have built a "pseudo-FrankenIDS" sensor (I
used an old Netranger box which I upgraded the memory to 512MB and
installed v4.1 - don't get too happy, you still need the v4.1 CD and
also tweak some unix files to make it work) just to get the feeling. I
work with the VPN Concentrators already but not with the PIX or IDS,
so it is just a lot of fun playing with all these "toys".

After all the reading and playing the real thing will start, like 5
hours every night and at least 12 hours on Saturdays and Sundays for
several months (I am not lucky enough to work for a company that will
allow me to study during work hours) then about 30/40 days between
attempts to keep the pace (make sure you have enough cash stashed, for
me it will be until the 3rd attempt - 4th if I convince my boss to
pass the test I pass).

Have fun!

Phil
