RE: wccp config

Hi ,

There are different ways of using WCCP.

And redirect in/out will depend on the location of ur wccp servers.

The most straight forward will be

Suppose u have a small router with 2 interface
1 - ethernet for lan
2 - serial for connection to ur ISP.

Then u will have

ip wccp web-cache

int e0
ip wccp redirect in

int s0
ip wccp redirect out

Sometimes u have send Client IP address instead of ur cache engine to the
web-server due to intensive attacks or some other reasons u wanna send
the users IP.

then u have a different config :

Here

u will have use 3 subnets
different subnet in which the cache-engines will reside and two different
subnets for ur LAN and ur WAN.

u will have use

ip wccp redirect exclude in

in the subnets on which cache-engines reside.

and on both the other subnets

use : ip wccp redirect out

The configs on the cache-engines will differ for vendor to vendor.

If u use Net-apps u will have just enable Ip-spoofing on the cache-engine.

If u use Blue-Coat u have to use differ way of configuring it.

U may have to use a different service group then default wccp in the case
of sending Client IP

and when u define a different service group on the cache engine , u have
change the config on the router

use : ip wccp ( service-group no.)
instead of : ip wccp web-cache

I hope this helps a bit.

Thanks

Vishal

Subject: wccp config

is there only 1 basic configuration for wccp to work correctly?

ip wccp web-cache
!
!
int e0/0
ip wccp web-cache redirect in/out ?

i am a bit confused about the direction in which you are supposed to
apply
this:

R1-------clients----------e0/0----R2---s0/0----------------server

would you appley this to the e0/0 or to the s0/0 and which direction
would you
use <in/out>. i have heard that you can just appley it to both
interfaces
both in and out and it will take care of the rest...........is this
true?
