functional differences between PPPoA

Good morning,

I was just rying to figure out if there are any functional differences between the two types of PPPoA confgurations, one using a virtual-template and the other using a dialer interface. CAn they both be used on the physical ATM interface, or strictly on p2p subinterface, etc.
