Karl,
Little misconception here: Trunking is designed so that over the interfaces
connecting two switches you can carry VLAN traffic for multiple VLAN traffic
and not just for the native/default VLAN (VLAN 1 in Cisco switches). In
essence trunking allows devices connected to different switches, but in the
same enterprise VLAN to communicate with each other as the VLAN traffic can
span multiple switches.
Creating L3/interface Vlan (SVI) interfaces on a L3 switch on the other hand
allows the devices connected to the same switch or different switches in a
campus but in different VLANs to communicate across their respective VLANs.
So in Jacque's case if is functionality is allowing his VLAN span the campus
made up of these 4 switches and no requirement for intervlan routing then
creating trunk interfaces between the switches and allowing all VLANs to
sapn the trunk will suffice.
If there is a requirement for Inter-VLAN communication, then he will not
only need to create these VLANs on his L3 switch from a layer 2 switch
perspective, but will also need to create software interfaces for the
different VLANs from a layer 3 perspective.
Regards,
Bola

Duane,
I am assumng that the layer 3 switch is passing traffic otherwise
vlans 2 3 4 5 6 and 7 would be useless.None means no more configuation is
nesssary. If the trunks are up I can safely assume that the layer 3 device is
already configured. Is it up Jacque ?
Regards,
Karl.
