Ty, that announcement was for a few days on the CCIE website, but they took
it off.

Yesterday, they announced it officially at www.cisco.com/go/certcommunity ,
if you wait a little you can watch the show regarding "recertification" when
it is available in archived form.

But they said that starting October 1, ANY CCIE written recertifies ANY
Associate, Professional, and apparently also specialist. Sounds logical to
me that CCIE written recertifies the first two, but I can't really agree on
it recertifying specialist level.

KR,

Koen.

I had heard that this was a recent change that if you take the written, it
will re-cert your CCNP/DP..I have contacted Cisco to verify this, and will
let all of you know as soon as they get back with me. When I took the
written a year ago..it did not re-cert my CCNP/DP

Thanks!!

Ty,

Unless Cisco has changed things recently, just retaking the CCIE written
exam will not recert you for NP/DP. You must either pass the lab or re-cert
for NP/DP. After you pass the lab, you can recert for CCIE by taking the
CCIE written (any one of them) which will, in turn, recert you for NP/DP,
assuming you pass prior to their expiration date.

As you all know, I am currently working on the lab, however, my CCNP/DP is
to expire in about a month.

CCNP expires Oct 24th, CCDP expires in January...

As I understand it, Cisco has made it so that if you pass the written, that
will now re-cert you on CCNP/DP.

I am looking for opinions on this matter, as to take the written again
(which I believe would keep me more focused on the lab) as oppsed to just
taking the CCNP/DP re-cert. I know the written costs more, but I don't want
to factor that into the discussion.

I am in a toss up as to wether to re-cert or not, and the main thing that
keeps bugging me is that I worked hard to get the CCNP/DP, and do I really
want to just let it go.

Thanks!!

Ty
