Hello Joe,
"My question however is more a matter of what is said, and left unsaid
on
the exam."
Based on the NDA agreement we really aren't supposed to discuss what is
on the exam. As far as this lab from the cisco press book is concerned
though, it states to ensure full ip visibility, so in this case only 1
virtual-link is necessary, to meet the requirements. Please utilize the
forum on my website for additional questions on these practice labs
also.

Subject: Lab 3 Cisco Press backup solution
The solution for this lab uses back interface on the serial interface
of R4. I have no problem getting this to work, my problem is that if
this interface goes down, the lower half of the network is isolated,
despite the existence of Area 2, and a connection to R6. Because R6 no
longer has a connection to Area 0, OSPF is broken. The solution is
pretty straight forward, putting a VL between R1 and R6 over Area 2. My
question however is more a matter of what is said, and left unsaid on
the exam. I know that when we assume we often make an ass(of)u(and)me,
but should we assume that the backup solution should include this
virtual-link as well? There are notspecific requirements for this in
the task, but are the reachability requirements assumed here?
Any thoughts?
Joe
