Mtu and ip mtu

Hi,

I'm a little confused between the commands 'mtu' and 'ip mtu'.

According to the Doc CD, changing 'mtu' automatically changes the 'ip mtu', but the reverse is not true.

So what exactly is 'ip mtu' used for??
