RE: switchport mode access commandGood point. Maybe it would be a good idea
to just use the interface range command to configure all ports to access mode
and then make whatever config's are needed for the trunks. What do you
think?

Everything you said is true but I still don't understand why the sport has
to manually be changed to access mode.
What problem is there with just leaving the port like this:
switchport access vlan #
switchport mode dynamic desirable
When the port is configured this way, everything works fine. So, in the
lab, do you think it's neccessary to take the time to change it from this ?
