Tom,
The command is used to specify what percentage of your total
memory should be set aside for iomemory, with the remainder being used
for processor memory (which holds most databases and route tables, and a
lot more). Adding an additional module will only increase the total
amount of memory. When the router boots, it will automatically
determine how much iomem to set aside. Only if you needed more or less
iomem should you need to use the command. For instance, if you are
using the minimum amount (or less) of RAM for a particular IOS image,
you may need to give iomem a lower percentage to free up enough
processor memory so that it runs. But I'm willing to guess that 99.9%
of the routers out there don't need this command ever.

Subject: memory-size iomem command
Hi, group
I add a memory stick into the Cisco2621XM router, older memory stick
was fixed in primary slot, I add the newer stick in second slot.
Somebody said I should use the memory-size iomem command to combine
their for a single memory. When I checked the command ,I found the last
parameter should be a percent, how to use the command ?
Thanks alot
