There are a few other methods that can be used to cause the physical
interface to drop if you do not have access to the Frame Relay switch.
When in the real lab, you should definitely know alternate methods.
Lastly as mentioned in my previous e-mail, Frame Relay end-to-end
keepalives will not bring down the physical interface.

Thunai,
When u shut down the serial interface backup will not kick in. In order
to make it work, shut down the serial of the FR switch that connects to
R1.
As to PVC status monitoring, u can use Frame Relay End-to-End Keepalive
feature (provided the routers are Cisco).

Subject: Frame-relay interface Tracking
Dear All ,
I have the following scenario.
R1--------(fr)--------r2 . ( R1 connects to R2 using framerelay
Physical interface )
When i shutdown r2 serial interface still on R1 my serial link is
Up , UP , Ofcourse my PVC is down . When i do a backup interface on the
serial for isdn dial , isdn is not kicking since the interface is Up. Is
there a way in Framerelay where we can track the end to end PVC like ATM
we can use to OAM to track the pvc status. I can make it working using
watch group , i am trying for an option to make it work with backup
interface.
