The algorithm is evolving. There are some minor tweaks by Ross Callon
described in Radia Perlman's book. Some more recent experiments,
however, keep certain "less-best" routes for faster failover without
a recomputation. I don't believe Cisco has done this for production
as yet, perhaps wisely.
