That is fine then. I was just trying relay the feedback which I got from
a Channel Partner Engineer the otherday. When he was giving us a Tech
presentation on how IPCC system fits together with a CM and couple of
VMware sessions on his laptop to show how CM, IVRs, PGs & Voice G/Ws fit
together, I have asked them to let me have that hack so that I can play
around with CM when I get back home.
They politely declined my request by saying they are not suppose to let
others have it.
But may be as you said it is not all that restrictive after all.

Hi ;
I dont think we should speak on behalf of Cisco , I have been
talking to some Cisco guys and Cisco knows about the registery trick to
allow the CM to work on any H/W and they use it ....I have heard also
that it is not necessary to buy the hardware from Cisco ..you can get
the s/w only ..but not sure .
I dont think there is a problem if it is going to be used for
lab purposes .i have attended a training with cisco partner where the
instructor was using VMWARE with callmanager installed on IBM notebooks
..it make his life easy instead of shipping punch of hardware around .
for the guy who asked how to do it ..refer to the archieve
..there was long thread ended with someone who send complete procedure
of how to make it ..search for CM on normal PC...
thanks

Hi Ali,
I have seen on couple of cases where Internal Cisco
engineers use CM on
their laptops/PCs for IPCC Project trials/labing ...etc.
But I guess
they do it with the help of a registry hack which
enables their system
to trick the CM to believe their laptops/Pcs as if they
are one of CM
loadable servers such as DL 380s or certain models of
IBMs..etc.
Just like IOU, I think Cisco may not like the idea of
this hack floating
around/leaking outside their control. So I do not think
any one is going
to respond positively to this request.
