I have two core 6509 MSFCs and a dozen Distribution
6509s connected to both cores. I have multiple stacks
of 3550s connecting on the Distribution MSFCs which
are trunked to the distributions (multiple vlans). The
cores and distributions are connecting with layer 3.
I would like to know which will be the best way to
assign the VTP domain(s). Do I assign one VTP server
per Distribution layer with a different domain name?
..or one domain name for all? Can I create only one
VTP server for the whole network....will VTP
information pass through layer 3 links? Any ideas what
will be the best practice for VTP assignment for such
a network set up?
I am also concern about the connections betwen the two
cores which will be etherchanneled. Should I use
trunking with etherchannel, or should I make the
etherchannel a layer 3 connection?
I will appreciate any input.
Loizos
