Great post! I also agree that "you get what you pay for". In fact, if I
had to make a decision on hiring a consultant at $30 / hour vs. one at $75 /
hour - I'd probably initially think that the $30 / hour consultant couldn't
find work - or was just plain bad. Afterall, there's got to be a reason for
the low price - right?! ;-)
Regarding CCIE preparation products, you'll find that all of the products
on the market - NLI, Netmasters, IE, Hello Computers and IPexpert's are all
good products - these companies wouldn't have collections of success stories
if they weren't valuable. However, with that being said - preparation
preferences usually come down to prep styles and - individual preferences.
People - do your homework. If you're in the process of buying a CCIE prep
product, understand what you're buying. By because of the value - not
because something is "cheap". Review success stories (and don't rely on a
single hotmail or yahoo email alias to assist you in making your decision!
;-). Review the size of the company, the reputation of the company and
check out the support for the product before you purchase. (Most of these
vendors give you free access to their support forum - get inside and check
out what's happening). If a company can't give you a collection of
validated success stories or testimonials - they're probably hiding
something.
