- You may be interested in knowing that
Cisco has recently announced many changed
in the support structure for refurbished,
approved vendor list (AVL), and grey
  market equipment.

The presentation mentions that the AVL is
now discontinued, and I get the strange idea
that there are clone routers / switches out
  there to be had.

  Without the AVL, theoretically, non-Cisco
boxes memory, GBICs, etc, could be used as
an out by TAC/Support from now on.

  Enforceable? That's anybody's guess.

Sorry in advance for the off topic, but I need some feedback from the
experts if you don't mind.

We all know that Cisco charges a premium for things like DRAM, Flash,
GBICs, etc.. In 99% of my experiences most companies will use the Cisco
product to alleviate support layers, etc..

What are your experiences with this? Many companies, especially with budget
cuts, are looking at OEM and 3rd party components to help cut costs without
seeing much if any drawback from it. Many times this stuff will show up in
a Cisco logo box.

Any experiences or thoughts? In favor or opposed to it?
