This would make sense for IPv6, but I wouldn't think the lab is
principally V6. Certainly, there's been no sentiment in the IETF to
express V4 in hex. Indeed, for the specific 4-in-6 address format,
the v6 address is written as a hex prefix with dotted decimal in the
last 32 bit positions.
