Hello Manu,

The following link will give you the detail differences between CAT3550
SMI & EMI.

In short I would say that SMI for Unicast routing supports only static
routes and RIPV1/V2 whereas EMI in addition to static routes & RIP also
supports OSPF, EIGRP, BGP and PIM in Multicasting.

Your switch Image c3550-i5q3l2-mz.121-19.EA1c.bin is an EMI Image which
must be use for LAB Prep.
