Re: Question about Tunnel interface and criteria of WCCP

This is explained graphically in the WCCP
implementation PDF link.
Three interfaces 0/1, 0/2, and 0/3
0/1 is the incoming interface
0/2 is the interface to the Cache engine
0/3 is the interface the traffic would normally go to.

When you configure inbound (on 0/1), the router makes
a determination on the outgoing interface (Send web
traffic to the cache engine - 0/2). When you
configure outbound, the router/switch has already made
a decision to send the traffic to 0/3 (the outbound
interface), and as it is being prepared to send out
interface 0/3, it realizes that the traffic needs to
be redirected to the cache engine, and the traffic is
switched a second time (out interface 0/2).
