Wes makes some excellent points. I haven't worked with VTPv3 -- to be
honest, I didn't even know there was one out, although the need to
have VTP for extended range VLANs is pretty obvious. Extended range
VLANs tend to make me a little nervous, in wondering what else they
might break that assumes 1024 max, such as network management tools.

I realize all I'm doing is giving you something else to worry about,
but I like the story about an optimist and a pessimist, both of whom
have their garage catch on fire. The optimist moans this can't be
happening, while the pessimist grabs the cell phone to call 911 (the
POTS lines burned up in the garage), knocks down some of the fire
with the extinguishers at the ready, then backs off and uses the
garden hose to keep the roof of the house wet. I prefer to design
pessimistically, planning for the worst. Annlee Hines is probably a
better pessimist than I am!

Unfortunately, the link I had to a source of Big (foam rubber) Clue
Bats is dead. You might need a supply for some of your operators.
