Yeah, that mis-reading the requirements will kill you in the lab. Well, not
actually kill, you just cost you $1250 plus airfare, hotel, etc.
The answer was posted by William Chen - create a tunnel across the unicast
domain. I knew that but I didn't think of that cause I guess my brain was
in a helper map frame of mind. Also, not good for passing the lab.
OK, I'll give you a chance to redeem yourself - aren't I nice? :-)
I have Auto-RP configured in my network and there's an RP for group
224.11.11.11
On various routers in the mcast domain, when I do a "show ip pim rp
mapping", I get the output I expect ie, it shows the ip addr of the RP for
group 224.11.11.11 and everything else is as expected.
Since this is my lab, I don't have any active senders or receivers, but I've
configured some rtr to join the mcast group shown above.
But, when I run the "show ip pim rp metric" on that same router, I get no
output. Can anyone explain why this is and if it indicates I've configured
something incorrectly?
