Hi all,
I just did a practice lab where I needed to config DHCP server on a router
to provide ip addresses to clients on a connected LAN interface. The task
specified what domain name to use, the addr of the DNS server, and the range
of ip addresses but that's all.
I configured dhcp according to the spec's in the task but when I compared my
config with the solution config, I saw that the solution config included a
line for default gateway which I hadn't configured. Also, the solution
config didn't include either the address for a tftp server or the "no
conflict checking" statement.
My questions:
Had this been the real lab should I have known (or assumed) that I needed to
include a default gateway?
Also, can the solution config be correct even though no tftp server ( to
hold the dhcp bindings db) was specified and conflict checking wasn't
disabled? According to the Doc CD one or the other is required.
Lastly, if there are no actual clients on the subnet in question ( like in
the real lab), how can the dhcp config be checked and verified? It seems
like all the show commands aren't applicable to this situation.
Thanks in advanced
