Very true. Vonage (and others) run a SIP server service... Either way, a
controlling system needs to be in place.
If you have friends with Call Manager's set up and on an accessible network
from your lab, you can register the phones with them as well.

You can also install the SIP image on the 7960 and not use CallManager - A
service like Vonage can be used with it. I use 7960 with the SIP image to
study with others far far away.
