Wasn't that back when you could take the CCIE lab in a team of up to 6 people?

A sub-2000 CCIE told me that he got his CCIE by being the guy that typed fast while others yelled out configs.

He's a big of a joker, so he may have been leading me on.

All this time I thought he was the first.... :) Sheesh, he's "only" the
second...

Actualy, The first was a cisco person - terry was the second:

Terry Slattery, CEO & Founder

As Netcordia Founder and CEO, Terry Slattery is responsible for leading
product development and implementation. Terry is the founder of Chesapeake
Computer Consultants, Inc. (also known as Chesapeake Network Solutions and
later Mentor Technologies Group). He led Chesapeake to become an Inc 500
company in 1999. Terry left Chesapeake in early 2000.
Terry is Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) #1026, the first CCIE
outside of Cisco Systems and the second worldwide.

No... The very first CCIE was non-Cisco.

Terry Slattery. #1025

He used to run Chesapeake Computer Consultants which changed names a few
times over the years... He's running a company called Netcordia now.
