I think you are right and hard reset is too slow. I would use route refresh
or soft, but the advantage of route refresh is that you don't have to
configure it for. With soft you have to enter neighbor x.x.x.x soft in,

Thanks for getting back to me.
I'm surprised with your response, though, because I know that with my 2500
series routers, there's a big difference in how long a soft and hard reset
take. So, I figured, in the lab, there would also be a difference in time,
but maybe it's not that great.
As far as when a reset is needed, it's my undersatnding that whenever any
change in BGP policy takes place that affects what routes are allowed in or
out, a reset (either hard or soft) is needed. Don't you agree?
